Shrimp Chowder

There is nothing like a comforting bowl of chowder on a cold winter’s day. It is the kind of soup that is an entire meal. Crusty bread, sweet shrimp, and delicious creamy broth is the answer to any dinner prayer. You won’t believe how easy it is to actually make. Down below I am going to share with you my fail proof Shrimp Chowder recipe. Enough talking, let’s eat!

What You’ll Need:

1 Bag of fresh or frozen peeled and deveined large shrimp.

1 Bag of frozen Corn

1 Bag of Frozen Pearl Onions

3 Chopped celery stalks

3 Chopped Slices of Bacon

1 Cup of Milk

1/2 Cup of Light Cream

1/2 Cup of Chicken or Shrimp Broth

3 Medium Sized Chopped potatoes. You can use red and keep the skins on for flavor and color

2 Tsp of Salt

2 Tsp of Pepper

2 Tsp of Garlic

4 Tbsp of Flour

1 Tbsp of Oil

Cook:

In a large pot add the oil and bacon. Cook bacon until slightly crispy. Once slightly crispy add flour. Stir with a spoon until flour has dissolved and turned into a paste. Add milk slowly while stirring, Then add light cream and broth then stir. Add salt, pepper, and garlic powder and mix well.  Bring it back to a bubble, then add potatoes and celery. Continue to stir. Let the raw potatoes cook for 10-12 minutes or until tender.

The potatoes will thicken the soup. After 10-12 minutes, taste for seasoning. If you need more salt, pepper, or garlic please add to taste. Once you’ve seasoned to your liking add the corn, pearl onions, and shrimp. Allow the shrimp to simmer for 5-8 minutes.

While your shrimp are simmering cut a few slices of french bread and toast them. Then sit aside. After the 5-8 minutes have passed turn off the heat and serve,

Serve:

Serve in a warm bowl with bread and pepper to finish. If you like it a little spicy, dash a little hot sauce in. I do and it is fab!
